I think issues of politics and ignorant "altruism" will given more weight than issues of a technical nature at the ISO level. I have had enough exprience with my comments on standards being ingored when they've actually be sought out (if indirectly), that I know I can be just as satisified by posting them here.

They're extensions for making a ISO-9660 CD bootable. Ok, thanks! Now I know.... That said, you may have a problem booting off of CD on a 486. You should be able to mount the CD with a command like: mount -t cd9660 /dev/acd0c /cdrom Just replace acd0c with whatever your CD device is.

The second issue is more a strange behavior. If I start X11 on the console it starts up quickly (2 seconds); if I have a "screen" session started in an entirely different login, starting X11 on the console is slow (8 seconds). If I exit out of screen, the slow startup behavior goes away.

The issue you have seen with the .ISO file however is a bug. ======================= From: devnulluser Date: 10/11/01 Subject: Unreadable .CL5/.CIF files after updating from ECDC 5.0 to 5.02b I created some CD images in ECDC 5.0 some time ago where ECDC 5.0 created .CIF and .CL5 files. I then created .ISO images.

DVD Issues with Nero 6 burning from ISO file
Not sure why this is happening, the VESA ISO is the first time I hit this problem. More as I find it. I'm not sure how much of this fun is the fact that i'm doing this on AMD Opteron boards; it is reminiscent of the old days of Red hat when the install on K7 would go fine, but the installed kernel would not boot.
